Ingredient du Jour: Rosehip Seed Oil for a youthful glow

top reasons to use roship oil

When we set out to formulate our first blend 004 Huile Moderne (the modern moisturizer), we knew argan oil would play a lead role as the intensive multi-tasking hydrator but only the most skin adoring companion would do. Which seed oil would be best-suited for argan, plus stand out as a nourishing, healing, anti-aging counterpart? We looked no further than rosehip seed oil.

Rosehip seed oil is derived from the ‘hips’ or fruit of the deciduous sweet briar shrub. A famous first study of rosehip seed oil was performed in 1983 at the University of Santiago. The study involved 180 participants all exhibiting moderate to severe skin damage due to age, sun damage, radiation or dermatitis. The study concluded showing that rosehip seed oil significantly regenerated the skin, reduced scarring and wrinkles and prevented the advancement of aging plus helped skin to regain its natural color and tone.

Olìe’s Top Reasons to get Hooked on Hips

Nature’s airbrusher: Rosehip seed oil promotes firmness and helps create a youthful glow. Tretinoin, a natural derivative of Retinol (Vitamin A), increases collagen synthesis and new cell turnover in the skin. With continued use, fine lines, scarring, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation and sunspots fade away. Rosehips are a highly effective natural alternative to well-known synthetic Retin-A products.

Irritation infantry: Rosehips to the rescue! The skin restorative healing qualities of rose hip seed oil is endless. Rosehips are a nutritive agent for dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and burns.  Bonus: Naturally high in antioxidants, beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamin C, rosehip seed oil is exceptional free radical fighter to prevent further skin damage.

Rosy skin gets hip: Rosacea sufferers turn to rosehip seed oil to aid in reducing redness and inflammation. The oil achieves this by strengthening damaged capillaries and acting as an astringent to heal. Bonus: Rosehips help rosy skin types stay moisturized and protected which is a soothing treat.

Mighty moisturizer: Because of the high essential fatty acid content in rosehip seed oil, it can easily permeate the upper layers of the skin yet penetrates to the deeper layers leaving you with a healthy naturally and completely moisturized non-greasy complexion.

When looking for rosehip seed oil, select the cold-pressed variety which retains more of the vital nutrients. We believe in the power of rosehip seed oil so much that we have gone on to craft our 005 Huile Radicale rejuvenating blend with it. There you’ll rosehips partnered with camellia seed oil and some other beloved key ingredients which we’ll be highlighting soon, right here on the Olìe b. blog.

I just started using my Olie biologique Huille Moderne and love it! I have very sensitive skin, I’m acne prone, and I have acne scars and pigmentation. I am so grateful I found this oil and for it’s amazing ingredients including rosehip seed oil! The texture of my skin is smooth, my complexion is clearer than I’ve seen it in a long time, and no redness and no dryness! I’m excited to see some of these scars start to fade. Thank you!
